Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon 2003 has been an especially busy year for the Fort Smith Animal Society. Through the extraordinary efforts and dedication of its volunteers a great deal has been accomplished. Fund raising to a record number of adoptions the volunteers have come through with amazing efforts, dedication, stamina, and ingenuity. In light of the tremendous efforts of all our volunteers this year, it was decided to recognize their efforts on October 4th, 2003. With the unpredictability of the season it was thought best to hold a lunch in doors at the Seniors Room in the Fort Smith Recreation Centre. (Thank-you to the Fort Smith Seniors Society for the donation of the use of the facility.) Approximately 40 of our volunteers, their family and partners, showed up for a fantastic lunch catered by Joe LaLonde. Roast beef and all the trimmings with 3 different kinds of pie, ice-cream, and fruit for desert. Way to go Joe! Amazingly even with the voracious crowd there were leftovers which were sent over to Northern Lights Extended Care where they were greatly appreciated. Thank you to all those that attended. We can now put more faces to names or voices on the telephone. To those that couldn’t attend our thanks for your dedication, efforts and a job well done in 2003, we hope to see you at the next one.
