Who We Are

 

A group of volunteers dedicated to caring for lost, stray, surrendered, and abandoned animals in Fort Smith Northwest Territories Canada. The Fort Smith Animal Society was recognized and awarded for being an outstanding volunteer group in 2003 by the Government of the NWT – MACA and Northwest Territories Power Corporation, for its outstanding community service and efforts.

 

Municipal and Community Affairs and the Northwest Territories Power Corporation have announced that Lillian Kristensen, President Emeritus of the Fort Smith Animal Society and the founder of the shelter, has been awarded Outstanding Elder Volunteer for 2004. See the Slave River Journal April 20th, 2004 - page 14.

Donations

Pennies for Pets. Why not donate those loose pennies and that change you have laying around. Contact the shelter at (867) 872-5543 and they will be glad to have it picked up, rolled and deposited to the Society on your behalf.

 

The Fort Smith Animal Society is always in need of donations of bedding for animals. Donations of Bedding, Blankets, Quilts,  and Towels are urgently required and in short supply. As well donations of leashes, leads, collars, carriers, crates, treats and toys are always appreciated. Please contact the Shelter (867) 872-5543 and we will be happy to pick up your donation
